A Successful Book Launch at Waterstones, Gower Street

Dr. Baptiste celebrated the launch of her new book ‘Portfolio Careers for GPs’ at Waterstones Gower Street, with family, friends, book contributors and those who wanted to learn more about the book and indeed portfolio careers.

Dr. Baptiste provided an overview to the book and detailed the ‘portfolio career development framework’ she created which corresponds to the book chapters. Two of the GPs who contributed Dr. Lavan and Dr. Ellen, spoke about their careers and provided words of wisdom to those looking to create or develop their very own portfolio career. Dr. Baptiste also shared six key messages for anyone looking to create a portfolio career.

New Book Alert: Portfolio Careers for GPs by Dr. Baptiste

Roughly two and a half years ago Dr. Baptiste agreed to write a book with Scion Publishing Ltd about portfolio careers. More specifically portfolio careers for General Practitioners (GPs). It has been a challenging but highly rewarding journey to writing this first of a kind book. There are books about portfolio careers but until now there was not a book about portfolio careers for doctors.

A significant amount of time and research has been invested in this book and you can read the first few sample pages here. The book can be purchased from Scion Publishing or from most bookstores (Waterstones, Blackwell’s).

Dr. Baptiste Awarded ‘Highly Commended’ at the Forward Ladies Awards

Dr. Baptiste was extremely honoured to be shortlisted and then awarded as ‘highly commended in the public/third sector leader category at this year’s awards. This year’s theme was Breaking Barriers.

The awards are now in their 13th year, continuing to honour the impact of female leadership, innovation and entrepreneurism in business.

The awards “continue to use our platform to showcase the achievements of women breaking barriers across the public and private sectors, giving them the recognition and visibility, they need to inspire the next generation of leaders. These women are changing lives and transforming the UK’s businesses, communities, and industries.”

Guess Who Has a New Job as a Senior Lecturer?

Dr. Baptiste has recently accepted an offer to work as a senior lecturer at The University of East London. She will be working alongside other academics on the Physician Associate MSc programme. You can read more about what the programme entails here.

Dr. Baptiste was previously the course lead and senior clinical lecturer for the new Advanced General Medical Practice Msc course at The College of Medicine and Dentistry at Ulster University.

Dr. Baptiste WINS at the WeAreTheCity Awards

Dr. Baptiste has won the Rising Star Award in Healthcare at this years WeAreTheCity Awards. Dr. Baptiste was among almost 1500 entries and judged by an independent panel of over 40 judges. During the 2017 awards Dr. Baptiste was a finalist in the Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics category; a healthcare category did not exist at the time and there was only one winner in comparison to five winners chosen in this awards over recent years. Dr. Baptiste Accepted onto NHS England’s NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme

Since it’s inception during 2016 I have always wanted to apply to the programme but I always seemed to miss the application period and then I ended up not applying at all!

I was informed about my acceptance onto the programme this evening; I was selected out of over 300 applicants which is amazing!

The programme is “is a free entrepreneurial work force development programme aimed at NHS staff and healthcare professionals.”

Through this programme I will receive lots of support in the form of events, mentoring and building hopefully long lasting connections. The programme will help develop Medschool Xtra and our career readiness research.

BOOKINGS OPEN for 2022-2023

Over the past two years despite continuing to speak at a variety of places both in the UK and internationally I have had to turn down quite a few speaking engagements due to reasons beyond my control!

Over the last few months I have been receiving more and more requests on a variety of topics especially as Black History Month is fast approaching. Someone even found me from this article several years ago- Dr. P. Baptiste: I Aim To Inspire.

Funnily enough I have also been asked to teach physician associate students based on another article I wrote for GP Online about consulting in ten minutes!

I really enjoy speaking, and I am officially back next month where my first talk will be at a school to inspire students as part of Black History Month, with the second talk discussing portfolio careers for the Doctors Association UK.
